Muskogee man shot in back of the head while driving in neighborhood, suspect unknown

MUSKOGEE, Okla. - A Muskogee man was transported to a Tulsa hospital Monday after being shot in the head by an unknown suspect.

Randy Smith, 50, said he was approached by a man around 5:30 a.m. near North 24th and Court Street.  Smith said the man asked for a cigarette.

As Smith drove away, shots were fired and Smith was struck in the back of the head.  He lost control of his truck and crashed into a nearby parked car.

Smith described the man as black, 6 feet tall and about 180 pounds. He also said the man was wearing dark colored pants and a dark hooded sweatshirt.

Investigators don't know at this time if the man is a suspect or witnessed the shooting.
