MUSKOGEE, Okla. - A former Muskogee County jailer spent Monday locked up in the same jail she had been employed to guard after police discovered an apparent marijuana operation in her home.
Investigators with the Muskogee Police Department say they were tipped off to a home near South 32nd Street and West Okmulgee Avenue.
Lt. Mike Grace says the warrant turned up just what they expected; a marijuana plant, some marijuana packaged for sale and and cash. But there was one item he says he wasn't prepared to find.
"I was going through the closet in the bedroom. And I found a Muskogee County Sheriffs uniform shirt," Grace said. "It was a surprise."
The shirt belonged to 36-year-old Jennifer Castronovo, Grace says. The Muskogee County Detention officer was arrested for growing and selling marijuana along with her fiance Jody Pease.
Sheriff Charles Pearson says Castronovo had been employed by the jail for about three months, and had passed a drug test and background check when she was hired.
Pearson says she appeared to be a good employee.
