TULSA - AAA projects at least a million more people will travel over Labor Day weekend this year than in 2012.
Roughly 34 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home, a vast majority by car.
More than 400,000 Oklahomans are expected to hit the road over the holiday weekend.
Gas prices have jumped in recent days, but prices remain about 30 cents cheaper than a few months ago.
"For many Americans their home is their largest asset and and as prices begin to rise across the country consumers are feeling more confident about planning a vacation," Heather Hunter of AAA said.
AAA expects even more Americans will hit the road during the holidays at the end of the year if this optimistic upward trend continues.
