Moore, Okla. - Residents of Moore took a break from their cleanup efforts to celebrate the Fourth of July.
The city held its annual "Celebration in the Heartland" at Buck Thomas Park.
Hundreds of people attended the day-long event which included a volleyball tournament and a massive fireworks display. Several vendors also set up shop, to entertain the families.
Many Moore residents believe this was a chance to smile, in the wake of the May 20 tornado.
"It's nice that we can get away and put it behind us a little bit," said Edward Altunian of Moore.
The celebration was held just two miles from some of the hardest hit neighborhoods. Much of the debris there has been cleaned up, from the tornado.
