Michael Bever attorney files notice to possible use insanity defense in fatal stabbing of family

TULSA – The legal team for younger of the two brothers accused of stabbing their family to death could be using an insanity defense during the trial.

Michael Bever’s, 17, attorney filed a notice this week that they will be evaluating the mental state of the teen and could use the defense in court.

The teen pleaded not guilty in the deaths of 52-year-old David Bever and 44-year-old April Bever in suburban Tulsa. Twelve-year-old Daniel, 7-year-old Christopher and 5-year-old Victoria in July 2015.

Earlier this year, Robert Bever, 20, pleaded guiltyin the fatal stabbing and received a sentence of life in prison without parole.
