TULSA- The last few days have been a whirlwind for Tulsa Mayor-elect G.T. Bynum.

Bynum hasn't slept much after winning what he calls the ultimate job.

He says over the past days, his initial shock of winning has turned into true excitement as he gets started on shaping the future of Tulsa.

"Still can't it, really. I mean, it's one of those things where it's just a dream come true," he said.

It's been Bynum's wish to lead Tulsa into a new era, and Tuesday night it became a reality.

"That's when I realized, wow we might be onto something! he said.

He beat current Mayor Dewey Bartlett by just over 10,000 votes on election night...what he considers a confirmation that his message resonated in town.

First, he says his first term will kick off by helping Tulsa's youngest populations.

"I want to convene an education cabinet on Day One bringing together our stakeholders from different education entities throughout the day," he said. "We can bring people together and start planning now."

He'll be sworn in December, but the planning to also modernize city government starts now. All while holding down his duty as city councilor with colleagues he considers near and dear.

" I have relationships with every single member. Many of them have been re-elected so we now they'll be back. It's one of the reasons why I wanted to run this time," he said.

He has a mountain of challenges ahead of him and he wants input, questions, any interaction from residents as he begins his journey to make Tulsa a competitive force in the U.S.- and a better place to live.

" I want us to be back to expecting people to want to be in Tulsa, I want Tulsa to be the type of place that people cant' wait to move to, and the people in Tulsa would never think of moving somewhere else," he said.

Bynum first act of business as mayor-elect is clean up all the signs througout town.

He spent most of his day yesterday doing that.

He also hopes to mend his relationship with Mayor Dewey Bartlett, who he hopes to work with moving into his new term.
