Mayor, councilors to host public input meetings for Vision2 proposal

TULSA - City of Tulsa officials announced Wednesday five public meetings hosted by Mayor Dewey Bartlett and Tulsa city councilors in the coming weeks to receive public input for Vision2 projects.

Earlier this week, the Board of County Commissioners passed a resolution that places the Vision2 proposal on the Nov. 6 ballot.

Vision2, expected to cost about $748 million, is an extension of Vision2025, which produced the BOK Center.

"In 2003, voters passed Vision2025 which has enabled Tulsans to enjoy many new facilities and receive funding for various neighborhood and infrastructure projects that could not be realized without Vision2025 funding," Mayor Dewey Bartlett said. "With Tulsa potentially receiving funding for continued economic development, we want to receive feedback from citizens on how we can best invest in our community."

With a potential extension, the city of Tulsa must identify projects for inclusion in the new Vision2 program.

After the public meetings, a resolution will be created comprised of projects Tulsa will pursue with Vision2 funds. If voters approve Vision2, the city of Tulsa will gain financing for projects outlined in the city resolution.

While each project will vary on completion time, all Vision2 initiatives set forth by citizens would be complete by 2029.

The Vision2 proposal would give companies incentives to relocate in Tulsa, give surrounding communities money for projects and give money to city-owned buildigns for upgrades.  Under Vision2, American Airlines, Spirit Aero and IC Bus would all be up for renovation.

Upgrades to those buildings are estimated at $386 million, roughly half of the Vision2 budget.
