BROKEN ARROW, Okla. - A Tennessee man was killed in a single-vehicle collision in Broken Arrow overnight.
Broken Arrow police responded to the wreck at the intersection of Elm Place and Jasper just before 1 a.m.
Police say a gold 2005 Chevrolet extended cab truck driven by 32-year-old Michael Headin, of Brighton, Tenn., was southbound on Elm when it failed to stop at the stop sign of a three-way intersection.
Headin drove south off the road at a high rate of speed, going airborn and striking a tree south of the intersection on the Indian Springs Golf Course.
Headin was pinned inside the truck while firefighters attempted to extricate him.
Although he was wearing a seatbelt, he died at the scene from his injuries.
Police say the preliminary investigation indicates alcohol and high speed were the primary factors in the collision.
