Man accused of stealing mail from Tulsa homes

TULSA – A man accused of taking mail of from residential areas led police on a brief foot pursuit this week before being arrested.

Tulsa police say they were called to investigate a man who was taking mail from mailboxes in the area of East Admiral Place. The man, Matthew Pruitt, was said to be driving a white Ford Explorer and parked behind a nearby business.

Tulsa police were able to discover the tag number on the vehicle Pruitt was driving was listed as stolen.

When officers located Pruitt, he attempted to drive away but became stuck. Then Pruitt attempted to run on foot from police and was apprehended and taken into custody not long after.

Inside the vehicle, Tulsa police say they located a loaded pistol, drug paraphernalia and dozens of articles of stolen mail from across Tulsa and even Broken Arrow.

Tulsa police arrested Pruitt on complaints of possession of stolen vehicle, possession of a firearm AFCF, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, 3 counts of stolen property, drugs, paraphernalia and obstruction.
