Organizers announced Thursday that the OKPOP Museum will be built across the street from Tulsa's historic Cain's Ballroom.
Property owner David Sharp is donating the land, which is currently a parking lot.
OKPOP Director Jeff Moore said there are many facets to the project.
"OKPOP is an idea. It's going to be part museum, part experience to tell the amazing story, history and contributions that Oklahomans have had in all aspects of popular culture," Moore said.
Construction is expected to begin in 2018.
