Judge in Tulsa denies motion seeking his recusal

TULSA -- A district judge in Tulsa has denied a motion seeking his ouster by attorneys for one of two men accused of gunning down three black people in April.

An attorney for accused shooter Jake England sought District Judge Kurt Glassco's recusal because the judge had signed England's arrest warrant.

Defense attorneys and a prosecutor met in private Thursday morning before Glassco to argue a Rule 15 motion -- the legal process of seeking to remove a judge or have the case transferred.

England and Alvin Watts are scheduled for an Oct. 22 arraignment before Glassco after a district judge ruled Tuesday that there was enough evidence to bind the men over for trial.

Because their motion was denied, England's attorneys must now file a written motion seeking Glassco's removal.
