Flood waters force Highway 11 closure, causing major detours

State Highway 11 just north of State Highway 20 in Tulsa County is closed while crews repair a section damaged by flood waters.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation discovered recent flood waters have undermined a section of the highway.  According to ODOT, a pipe under the highway collapsed, causing soil erosion against the road.  That pipe is being replaced.

The road was closed because of concern it could wash out.

ODOT crews started repairs Wednesday morning but say it will likely take a couple days before the work is complete.

Traffic is detoured on Highway 11. ODOT says detour routes include State Highway 20, US-75, US-60 and State Highways 123/11. The routes travel through Washington County.

ODOT says drivers should plan ahead for extra travel time.
