TULSA - The Humane Society of Tulsa hopes to make history Tuesday on "World Spay Day."
A record-setting 72 homeless pets are taking the PetSmart Rescue Waggin' to Boulder, Colo.
The program transports animals from shelters in communities with severe pet overpopulation to places where there is more demand.
"Until we all spay and neuter our pets and stop this pet overpopulation problem, we're never going to b able to save them all," said Gina Gardner, president of the Humane Society of Tulsa. "These 72 are lucky, there's thousands more in our community that are not."
More than 52,000 dogs have been saved through the program since 2004.
