PITTSBURG COUNTY, Okla. - Human remains have been found in a wooded area between Haskell and Pittsburg counties, investigators have confirmed.
Pittsburg County authorities say a man came across the remains around 4 p.m. Thursday while picking up rocks in the area.
Investigators believe the skeleton to have been an adult man between 35 and 55 years old. They also say he may have died more than a year ago, but "significant dental work" may help in identifying the man.
There are several open missing persons cases in the area, giving authorities hope for a match, says Pittsburg County investigator Tommy Lyons.
