2nd suspect in Victory Christian Center abuse case facing trial

TULSA  -- A former Tulsa megachurch employee accused in a child sex abuse case is heading to trial.

Israel Castillo was in court Thursday for a preliminary hearing in the case in which he is accused of making a lewd proposal to a 15-year-old girl and using a computer in an alleged sex crime.

The hearing was closed to the public as the underage girl testified.

By the end of the hearing, Judge Cliff Smith moved to dismiss one of the two charges -- using a computer in an alleged sex crime.

Castillo is one of two former employees of the Tulsa megachurch Victory Christian Center who are accused of sex crimes against children.

Castillo has pleaded not guilty.

The second former employee, Chris Denman, pleaded guilty last month to raping a 13-year-old girl in a stairwell on church property and other sex crimes. He could face life in prison when he's sentenced in December.

Castillo is due back in court Dec. 10 at 9:30 a.m.
