Haskell police arrest man after 6-hour standoff

HASKELL, Okla. - Three schools were locked down Wednesday morning while police were involved in a standoff at a nearby home.

Police say a woman came to the station overnight and told officers her boyfriend pulled a gun on her at home and hit her.

When police went to the residence near Center and Chickasaw Streets, the woman's boyfriend, identified as Brandon Oliver, barricaded himself inside.

Police say a negotiator eventually convinced Oliver to leave the home and he was taken into custody around 10 a.m.

No weapon was found inside the home.

Police say Oliver will face domestic assault and battery charges.

White Elementary, Muskogee County Head Start and Haskell Angel Care were all on lockdown for around two hours as a precaution, police say.
