MUSKOGEE, Okla. - A popular campsite near Muskogee has reopened just in time for Memorial Day weekend.

Nearly a month ago, a tornado ravaged through the Greenleaf State Park, causing it to close.

The Hahn family drove eight hours from Nebraska to Greenleaf State Park, taking their chances on Memorial Day weekend.

Monday, the park opened to the public. It's been under repair after an EF-1 tornado uprooted more than 200 trees.

Park operators say the majority of the main hiking trail will be shut down until further notice.

Contractors will remain in the park to place the finishing touches on the park before the long weekend.

Memorial Day weekend is the busiest weekend of the year for the park and all cabins have already been booked.
