Gov. Fallin declares state of emergency for all Oklahoma counties; NWS says Sallisaw tornado an EF 1

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Gov. Mary Fallin declared a state of emergency for all 77 Oklahoma counties on Saturday due to severe storms, flooding and snow affecting the state.

Storms have delivered rain and high winds across the state since Friday, causing power outages, storm damage and flooding. 

A tornado that struck down in Sallisaw on Saturday was given a preliminary rating of EF-1, according to the National Weather Service.

Four inches of snow have been reported in some areas of the panhandle.

The executive order allows state agencies to make emergency purchases related to disaster relief. The state of emergency lasts for 30 days. 

The state of emergency is the first step toward seeking federal aid should be it be deemed necessary.
