Glenpool resident Cody Mathews arrested in standoff Saturday afternoong, faces charges of eluding

A man involved in a standoff in Glenpool is jail this morning.

Police tell 2NEWS it all started when an officer attempted to stop 31-year-oldCody Mathews for a traffic violation Saturday afternoon.

Officers say Mathews did not stop and took off.

Shortly after, Glenpool police found the vehicle crashed.

The man ran off to a home on the 200 block of E. 149th Street and hid in an attic.

After several hours, a negotiator was able to get him to surrender to police.

Chief Dennis Waller told 2NEWS a similar incident occurred last April at the same residence when Mathews held a woman and her baby at knife point.

Mathews faces charges of eluding (after former conviction of a felony), eluding and endangering others, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, driving with a suspended or revoked driver license, along with several more misdemeanors.

He is being held on an $18,100 bond.
