KELLYVILLE -- A former Kellyville High School teacher accused of having sex with a student has turned herself in.
Kalyn Darby Thompson, 25, of Glenpool was arrested on second degree rape complaints.
The English teacher is believed to have had an inappropriate relationship with her 18-year-old student on at least two occasions -- once at Heyburn Lake in Creek County and again at a Tulsa hotel.
She resigned from her position in mid-April.
According to arrest records, Thompson informed Kellyville school officials, upon her resignation, that she and the student had been talking via text and “some of those texts were sexual in nature.”
Detectives learned the relationship began in December of last year and then turned sexual in March, when the student turned 18.
Under Oklahoma law, teacher-student relationships are not considered consensual unless the student is at least 20 years old, because the teacher is an authority figure.
Thompson's bond has been set at $35,000.
