Friends of Kayla Ferrante raise funds to help catch killer

TULSA - Loved one of a seventeen year old who was gunned down in May are still searching for answers and aren't backing down in their quest for justice.

Kayla Ferrante was in a car being driven by her boyfriend when she was struck by a bullet.

Police haven't named or arrested any suspects.

This weekend Kayla's friends are holding a garage sale in her honor.

All proceeds collected will go to a reward fund being set up at the Tulsa Crime Commission to help find Kayla's killer.

On Saturday, the first day of the event, organizers were surprised about the amount of items donated for the sale.

"We had a U-Haul and five trucks worth of stuff this morning when we got here and it has just blown my mind with how much the community and everybody has been supporting us," said Kirsten Swain, an organizer and one of Kayla's friends.

Items at the garage sale range from books to household decorations, clothes to furniture.

Organizers are also accepting monetary donations.

The garage sale continues on Sunday morning starting at 8 a.m.

Organizers say the event will run through noon.

It will be held in the parking lot of Memorial High School, located at 5840 S. Hudson Ave.
