Liberty, Okla. - An ex-Liberty faculty member accused of conducting an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student now faces an additional charge of sexual battery.
Earl Tennial, an English teacher and coach at Liberty Public Schools prior to his arrest, was taken into custody in December over allegations he sent inappropriate text messages and performed sexual acts with a 15-year-old girl.
Tennial had only been charged with one count of lewd molestation, but was charged with another count of sexual battery Thursday.
Detectives say the 29-year-old admitted to "making out" with the student following his arrest.
"We would talk about possibly skipping class or meeting after a wrestling tournament and doing sexual activities," Tennial told investigators, according to his booking report.
He was fired from the school in January.
