TULSA - Officials with the Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) say the ambulance service is changing the statements it sends to patients.
EMSA has been criticized in the past for billing patients who had already paid a monthly fee to avoid additional charges.
EMSA officials say the new statements should be in place by July 1.
The new statements to TotalCare program participants inform the recipient that it is not a bill and asks for insurance information.
Nonmembers will receive statements that read, "If we have missed your participation in our TotalCare/city utility fee program in error, please contact Patient Financial Services immediately to notify us of your status."
