TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Ten candidates vying to become Tulsa County's next sheriff will meet in several debates scheduled throughout February.

Nine Republicans and one Democrat candidate are in the race. The winner will become the county's fourth sheriff since ex-Sheriff Stanley Glanz was indicted by a grand jury in September.

The debates begin Sunday, when candidates will speak at a forum sponsored by the Tulsa chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. The event starts at 2 p.m. in the Hardesty Regional Library.

On Monday, the League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Voters will host a candidate forum beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Tulsa Community College.

Candidates will appear Feb. 19 at a Tulsa Republican Club forum starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Summit Club.

The special primary election is March 1.
