On Friday, Dateline on NBC took an in-depth look at the case. The two-hour episode started at 7 p.m. on Channel 2.
Hilberling told Dateline reporter Andrea Canning she didn't regret not taking a plea deal for five years, despite receiving the harsher sentence.
"I have to assume that even the DA was -- has to be -- in some state of surprise as to 25 years," she said.
Her attorneys have stated their intent to appeal her conviction.
