Three years after the quadruple homicide at Fairmont Terrace Apartments, the area around 61st and Peoria is still struggling but it's also making progress.

The South Tulsa Community House is playing a major role in revitalization projects.

They’ve added a medical center, increased education opportunities and provide food to 1000 people each week.

City leaders are now applying for $1.75 million in grants to add a community officer and improve security in the neighborhood.

“Instead of simply responding to crimes after they happen, what we want to do is focus on is preventing the crime in the first place,” Cpt. Thomas Bell said.

Tulsa Police say they are working with community leaders to bring crime numbers down.
