TULSA - A former Victory Christian Center employee charged in a sex abuse scandal will now wait until next year to be arraigned.
Israel Castillo, 23, is accused of making lewd proposals to a 15-year-old girl, to which he has pleaded not guilty. A second charge of using a computer to commit a sex crime was dropped last month.
Castillo was only in court for a couple of minutes Monday before a judge issued a continuance for Jan. 22.
Another former employee, 20-year-old Chris Denman, ignited the firestorm surrounding the church after his September arrest for the rape of a 13-year-old girl at a church event and the molestation of a 15-year-old girl.
Denman entered a guilty plea in October and could face life in prison.
Five other church employees were arrested shortly after for failing to report the crimes in a timely manner. The jury trial for two of the five, John and Charica Daugherty, is set to begin Wednesday.
