Convicted sex offender dies in Oklahoma State Penitentiary

MCALESTER, Okla. - An inmate at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester died Monday morning.

Sixty-three-year-old Fredrick Zimmer is listed as having died of natural causes, according to facility spokeswoman Regina van Blaricom.

She said he was found unresponsive at 12:25 a.m. Nov. 12 in the prison's medical unit. Security and medical staff responding to the scene pronounced him deceased at 12:52 a.m.

According to Oklahoma Department of Corrections records, he was serving a 10-year sentence for a Noble County conviction on charges of forcible sodomy, rape by instrumentation and two counts of lewd or indecent proposals or acts to a child under 16.

First incarcerated in March of 2010, he was due a parole hearing in May 2018 and was set to be released in January 2020.
