CLAREMORE, Okla. - Claremore First United Methodist church helped the community today by giving away free school supplies.
Members say they helped more than 2,000 students last year.
The only requirement is that the student attends a public school in Rogers County.
The drive is a year-long project.
Volunteers spend their time collecting the school supply lists from across Rogers County and they keep a running database of the needs.
When a kid comes in and says, ‘I’m Chelsea from second grade.’ We know what the teachers wants so we give him that if we can,” said Ray Dawson, School Supply Program.
Volunteers of all ages helped at today's giveaway.
This is the 17th year for the event.
