TULSA - The City of Tulsa is one step ahead of winter weather that is expected to return to Green Country Wednesday.
City crews have more than enough sand and salt -- thousands of tons, in fact -- to treat the roads if snow and sleet start falling.
In addition to 13,500 tons of salt, the City of Tulsa has 62 trucks with spreaders and 45 plows ready to deploy should the need arise.
A number of the trucks in the city's fleet were out just weeks ago during the last winter event.
"We're prepared," said Leon Kragel, street maintenance manager. "We were out here a few days ago, most of our equipment is all ready."
Meanwhile, Public Works managers are watching and waiting to figure out what the system will do before they figure out if crews must be placed on standby or asked to arrive at a specific time.
