TULSA - The Center of the Universe Festiva l is only days away and event organizers are doing all they can to make sure attendees are safe in the hot heat.
Temperatures are expected to reach 100 degrees this weekend so the festival is teaming up with the Tulsa Fire Department and EMSA crews to keep people cool.
They will have ambulances on location, water spray stations set up, and water available for festival goers.
But for some attendees, heat is not a concern.
"Growing up in Oklahoma, you're kind of used to the humidity so it's in the back of my mind," Echota Killsnight, festival attendee said. "I'm definitely going to dress light, but it's not going to affect me as much."
Dozens of restaurants and bars also play a role in this festival.
They plan on opening their doors to offer a place to cool off and grab a cold beverage.
"The more people you have hydrated the less people you have in ambulances," Kenny Hopkins, Hey Mambo restaurant general manager said.
The Center of the Universe Festival starts Friday at 5 p.m.
