Car hits mother, child walking to school on first day of Tulsa Public Schools semester

TULSA - A mother and her daughter were injured Wednesday morning walking to school in north Tulsa.

Police say the two were walking eastbound and turning north near 36th and North Peoria toward Hawthorne Elementary when they were hit.

A vehicle driving eastbound struck the pair.  Police say the driver was blinded by the sun.

The mother and her child were transported by paramedics to an area hospital.  They sustained only minor injuries.

Police say the driver will not be cited.
