Busy Tulsa street renamed for Martin Luther King Jr.

TULSA - A long stretch of a busy Tulsa street has a new name.

If you're looking for North Cincinnati Avenue and can't find it, don't worry you're probably not lost.

Starting Monday, the street  is officially Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard from Archer Street to 65th Place North.

The renaming project was in the works for several years, but it wasn't until this past week that crews began the street name change.

It took street crews about a week to finish putting up all the signs.

The City of Tulsa has notified the U.S. Postal Service as well as emergency response agencies including police, fire and EMSA.

Utility providers have also been notified of the change in address.

Businesses and people who live on the new Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will need to notify all of their contacts, including credit card providers, banks, mortgage companies, magazine subscription services and anyone or any business that corresponds with them.

People will also need to change their address on official documents including driver's licenses.
