BROKEN ARROW, Okla. - An 18-year-old has been arrested for hitting a Broken Arrow teenager with his vehicle Wednesday afternoon and leaving the scene of the crime.
Broken Arrow Cpl. Leon Calhoun said a 15-year-old cross country athlete was hit by a truck around 2:20 p.m. at Laredo Street and 1st Place. While officers were in the process of responding to the victim's injuries, Calhoun said Jordan Hunter, driving a blue pickup, returned and confessed to the crime.
Hunter told police on scene he was traveling southbound on 1st Place as the 15-year-old was running across the street. Hunter then reported hitting the teen and fleeing, according to Calhoun.
Hunter was taken into custody a short time later.
The victim, a student at Broken Arrow North Intermediate High School, was in critical but stable condition as of 5:45 p.m. A school spokesman said Wednesday night the teen suffered a broken leg and broken pelvis, but is expected to recover.
Broken Arrow authorities have not identified the teen hurt Wednesday, but a #PrayForLogan hashtag cropped up on Twitter in the hours after the accident.
