BROKEN ARROW, Okla. -- Thieves wiped out a competitive cheer team's fireworks stand in Broken Arrow on both Friday and Saturday.

Spirit Xplosion says someone stole $2,000 worth of fireworks. Now, team members say they're basically working for free to cover what was stolen from their stand.

Cheerleaders Samantha Hulse and Kenlee Wakefield say they pay for competitions and expenses through the money raised selling the fireworks.

"It's just really disappointing to our team, because some of our girls can't even afford to do it," said Wakefield.

Rachel Hulse, the mother of one of the cheerleaders says the competitions can add up quickly. "The competitions are really expensive a lot of them, or the majority of them are out of state and so you have your hotel costs, your gas just your, a lot of expenses."

Now, instead of making money for the team, their hours out in the heat of summer are making up for the money they lost.

Wakerfield and Hulse say they hope the thief will return the fireworks, but until then they'll continue flipping for tips.

The team says they're now taking measures to protect their property, installing cameras around the stand in an effort to protect the merchandise.
