Broken Arrow city council meeting heated after news of casino suit

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. - Just two hours after news of the newly submitted lawsuit facing the Kialegee tribe broke, Broken Arrow held its weekly city council meeting.

The meeting quickly became heated, with several city residents asking for resignations.

"I think that you should call on the termination of services of our city manager, I think you need to call on the termination of services of our city attorney and, [Broken Arrow Mayor Mike] Lester, I think it's time for you to respectfully step down," said a citizen in attendance.

No one stepped down during the meeting.

"I understand the emotions - rightfully so - that they have,"  Lester said in response. "But I have to do things in order. I understand they are mad at me and this isn't the first time people have been mad at me ... I'm still elected to do a job. I will continue to do that job."
