Crews battle large industrial fire near Claremore as UPCO facility burns
CLAREMORE, Okla. - Firefighters battled a large industrial fire Tuesday morning in Rogers County.
A fire at the UPCO facility on Amah Parkway was reported just before 3:30 a.m.
Verdigris, Claremore, Rolling Hills and Catoosa firefighters responded.
Officials on the scene said the plant was not operating in the early morning hours when the fire broke out and no one was inside.
Firefighters' efforts were hampered by debris and equipment inside the plant.
UPCO is a manufacturing company that makes steel rods for oil field equipment. The building that is on fire is a 140,000 square foot facility.
