The City of Bixby has shut down 131st Street between Memorial and Garnett roads.
The closure is part of the Vision 2025 Haikey Creek Flood Protection Project.
Crews are set to improve the drainage on three of the five bridges along 131st Street.
According to Jared Cottle, Bixby’s City Engineer, one of the bridges has been deemed structurally deficient by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
The work will happen in two phases: bridge construction between Garnet and Mingo roads and bridge construction between Mingo and Memorial roads.
The first will begin May 27 and is scheduled to be completed by July 13. The second phase will begin following phase one.
The project is expected to be completed by Aug. 20. Drivers should find an alternate route.
