TULSA - Many Green Country teachers are spending the weekend trying to figure out how to discuss the Connecticut school shootings, with their students.
2NEWS spoke with Will Newkirk, a third grade teacher, at St. Catherine School.
"There are going to be questions, not like we receive on a daily basis," he said. "You don't necessarily need to have an answer, but you need to be there."
Newkirk wants to ensure his students' safety, but most importantly, he wants to be honest.
"I think it's important for me to be, as an adult in their life and as a role model in their life, authentic in saying my response which is, 'I'm at a loss for words,'" he said.
Tulsa Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Keith Ballard is expected to hold a press conference, Monday morning, alongside Mayor Dewey Bartlett, Tulsa Police Chief Chuck Jordan and TPS Police Chief Gary Ruddick.
The purpose of the press conference is to ensure parents and students that all of the district's schools are safe.
