Area businesses fight flu with prevention measures

TULSA - Area businesses are fighting the flu bug.

The Hard Rock Casino and Resort has thousands of visitors every day. Many of those visitors play and share gaming machines. That is why the casino says the staff disinfects its gaming machines multiple times throughout the day.

Those efforts increase during busier days and evenings.

"On a busy Saturday night, we're definitely going to have more people here and we're going to be concentrating more on cleaning efforts," said Stuart Grayson with the Hard Rock Casino.

Grayson said the casino also has hand sanitizer stations located throughout the casino floor and provides flu shots to its employees before flu season begins.

Elsewhere, businesses, small and large, continue providing flu shots to their employees.

Tulsa Hot Shots, a mobile vaccination provider, said they have administered 1,500 more flu shots this year than last.

Kayla Warner, a registered nurse at Tulsa Hot Shots, said they had to order more supplies as demand picked up this month.

Warner said it's not too late to get a flu shot.
