Animals involved in 2 Rogers Co. wrecks

ROGERS COUNTY, Okla. - Highway patrol officials say animals were involved in two wrecks in Rogers County on Sunday.

Troopers say a Dodge Durango was traveling on a county road at a high rate of speed when the driver swerved to miss a deer ran, off the right side of the road and struck an embankment.  The SUV then rolled half way and caught on fire.

The driver and one passenger were transported, treated and released at a local hospital.  A second passenger was admitted with head and internal injuries.

A second wreck occurred in a field off of Old State Highway 88.

Troopers say a pickup driven by a 17 year old turned into a sod field while trying to run over a coyote.  The coyote tried to escape and the driver turned sharply in pursuit, causing the pickup to roll over.

A passenger was able to crawl to the roadway and attract the attention of a passing motorist.  Both the driver and the passenger were admitted to a local hospital.
