North Tulsa man shot, killed while taking out trash, homicide detectives investigating

TULSA - A Tulsa man is dead after being shot Wednesday morning while taking out the trash.

Police were called around 7:30 a.m. to an area near 3300 N. Garrison -- south of 36th Street North and east of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Police tell 2NEWS 32-year-old Anthony Campbell, who lived at the corner home on North Garrison, was outside taking out the trash when someone fired several shots at him.

Paramedics tried to revive him but Campbell was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police tell 2NEWS there were family members including children inside the home. Campbell's girlfriend said he got out of prison three years ago and has been "trying to get his life on track." She says she thinks her boyfriend may have been shot because of something in his past.

Police say witnesses reported Campbell was confronted by a stocky, 6-foot-tall black man wearing a black hat and black hoodie. The two exchanged words and gunfire erupted.

A neighbor told 2NEWS she heard six or seven gunshots.

Police say the suspect fled in a small tan SUV.

Anyone with information on the shooting can call Crime Stoppers at (918) 596-COPS or text TIP918 to CRIMES.
