K9s, police chopper track down Cheetos thief

SAN DIEGO -- San Diego police utilized a helicopter and K9 dogs to capture a man who allegedly stole a bag of Cheetos from a gas station in San Diego’s Webster neighborhood early Tuesday morning.
 
At around 1:45 a.m. a man reportedly got in a tussle with two clerks at an ampm store in the 1800 block of Euclid Avenue. The employees told 10News he tried to steal a bag of Cheetos. When they confronted him, he punched one of them and wrestled with the other before running away, leaving the bag of chips, his shoes and jacket behind. 
 
San Diego police officers responded in force, with K9s and a helicopter, to track him down. He was found about a block from the convenience store and taken down by the K9s.As he was being mauled, he screamed at officers to get the dogs off him. 10News Breaking News Tracker caught the takedown on video. 
 
The clerks told 10News they have seen the man in the store before, but he has never caused any problems. 
 
His name the charges he faces were not released.
