Only a few months after Kevin Keith began his Exotic Animal Training and Management degree at Moorpark College, he was determined to work with Monkeys for the rest of his career.

Today, Keith is the host of the traveling animal show “Wild About Monkeys” and is currently performing at the Tulsa State Fair.

Keith’s specialty is baboons and says the heavy traveling helps trainers understand their cast mates better.

“They’re like our kids. We spend so much time with them. We’ve had him (Mickey) for almost 16 years,” Keith said.

Keith, along side his wife Martina, entertain crowds with tricks, silly bits, and even introduce the baboons to audience members.

However, Keith says educating participants and audience members about monkeys as well as their habitats may be the most important aspect of the show.

“There is literally kids that walk away touching their arms. That experience makes them care about baboons in Africa, makes them care about other animals, makes them care about conservation,” Keith said.
