What women need to do for their health in their 30s

"This is my world. I'm here every Friday night, Saturday night making costumes for these kids," said Kerin Myers.

Kerin Myers is the costume director for a youth theater.

There are about 150 costume changes for 65 actors in an Alice in Wonderland production, where her daughter Libby has a part. When Kerin isn't backstage, she's a full-time special education teacher, with an active son who is also involved in the arts.

She admits, she invests more time in her family than in herself.

"This is probably bad, but my doctor is usually like the minute clinic or something like that, because that's what I have time for," said Kerin.

Kerin hasn't had a regular check-up in more than two years.

Dr. Jessica Swenberg's heard it before. She practices family medicine and says Kerin is the typical 30-something mom.

"They come back to see me and they're in their late 30s or early 40s and they've kinda missed 10 years of medical care. So, we're starting over and having to deal with a lot of issues," said Dr. Jessica Swenberg.

So if you're in your 30s these are the tests you should be getting from your doctor:

Breast exam
Pelvic exam/pap smear
Immunizations
Skin check
Blood pressure test
Cholesterol profile

While going to the doctor may be the last thing on Kerin's mind, doctors say regular check-ups may save her health and add years to her life.

"I want to be healthy and enjoy time where I'm not running kids around. So, I definitely want to make it a priority. I just need to do it," said Karin.

All this month, we're looking at the health tests women shouldn't put off. Next Monday at 5 p.m., find out what you should add to the list if you're in your 40s.
