David Cornell Bennett, Jr., suspect in murder of Parsons, Kansas mother, three children arrested

PARSONS, Kan. - A man suspected of killing a woman and her three children in southeastern Kansas is in custody.

Independence police said Tuesday night a suspect in the murders is in custody. Officials with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office have confirmed the man to be David Cornell Bennett, Jr., a Cherryvale, Kan. native wanted in relation to the crime.

Cami Umbarger, 29, and her three kids were found inside the home in Parsons, Kan., about two hours north of Tulsa. The murders immediately triggered a day-long manhunt.

It was not clear what the relationship was between the victims and Bennett.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation.
