Charles Douglas Graves charged with first degree manslaughter for death of his wife in Feb. 2012

PAYNE COUNTY - The Rogers County Sheriff's Department has arrested a Drumright man in connection with a February 2012 hit-and-run-accident.

Charles Douglas "Doug" Graves was charged with first degree manslaughter for the death of his wife Jane Lynn Graves.

February 19, 2012 deputies were contacted about a woman hit by a vehicle near 136th Street North and 147th East Avenue in Collinsville. Police learned the woman had been dragged by a car and killed.

Witnesses told police the couple was visiting friends in Collinsville discussing marital problems. Jana Graves left the residence upset. After looking for her with one of the friends, Doug Graves returned without Jana and also left the home in his truck.

The friends told police they heard a scream and "dragging," and called 911. Investigators said neighbors heard the same scream.

Officials believe the victim was hooked to the underside of the trailer of the couple's truck and dragged. She suffered extensive injury and died at the scene.

Doug Graves was arrested by Oklahoma Highway Patrol and questioned in Rogers County and denied having any knowledge of his wife's death, hearing her scream or being dragged under a trailer.

Investigators later reviewed video of Doug Graves' arrest and heard him talking to himself and  indicating that he would blame his friend for running over and killing Jana Graves

Doug Graves has been charged and is being held in Payne County jail.
