The beginning of new home builds are on the rise in Tulsa, according to the Home Builders Association of Greater Tulsa.

There were 282 permits reported for the month of May.  Thats a 52% increase over April.

Add to that, the Federal Housing Finance Agency reports Oklahoma is one of only four states that have continued to gain in home value appreciation.

Organizers of the 2009 Greater Tulsa Parade of Homes are celebrating those stats this weekend with the kick off of the week long event.

The Parade of Homes features more than 153 homes on display from Bartlesville to Coweta.

They range from $100,000 in price to more than $1 million.

According to the Home Builders Association, Tulsa reported 47 new home starts in May, raising the total to 159, which is the highest in the Tulsa metro area.

If you're in the market for a new home, and want to check out the homes on the tour this year's Parade of Homes, the tours kick off tomorrow all around the Tulsa area.

The tours are free and run tomorrow through June 28 from 1:00 to 7:00 each day.
You can pick up a guide at any QuikTrip for just 50 cents.
