There is one local company at the forefront of alternative fuels.

The owners of Tulsa Biofuels are recycling your cooking oil into biodiesel.

They have been getting the waste oil from more than 100 area restaurants and schools.

Biodiesel is said to burn 70-percent cleaner than petroleum diesel.

On Saturday, the first public recycling bin was set up at in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart at 81st and Lewis.

The Metropolitan Environmental Trust says pouring it down the drain can be damaging to both to the environment and pipes.

Tulsa Biodiesel says not only is the product better for mother nature, it's 30 to 40 cents cheaper than petroleum diesel.

The downside, you can't find very many pumps in the area.
