QT proves itself recession proof

Nine companies on the Fortune Magazine's 100 best companies to work for list for 2009 are listed as the companies with the best job security.

The list includes:
1. Nugget Market
2. Devon Energy- Oklahoma City
3. AFLAC
4. QuikTrip
5. The Container Store
6. Nustar Energy
7. Stew Leonard's
8. Scottrade
9. Publix Super Markets

The QuikTrip brand has grown to 9 states, employing 11,000 people.
In 2008 QT offered 1,400 new jobs to the public.

"We have about 15 to 16 new stores in markets under construction." said QT spokesperson, Mike Thornbrough.

More than 200 QuikTrip employees have worked with the company for more than 20 years.

Royce Hubble works as the 15th & Denver location.

"I tell customers this is the best entertainment on the planet and they pay me to watch it." said Hubble.

Hubble has worked with QT for 29 years. It started as a job to get him through school.

"I had no intention of staying. It was a job to get me though school and once I got through school I planned to go back to Tennessee." said Hubble.

He never left Tulsa and has been working for QT ever since.

"Hopefully you can see that in the stores the employees are happy. They have a smile on their face and say thank you." said Thornbrough.
